Since I was young I’ve had a passion for helping others and making the world a better place. That’s what led me to graduate Washington University with a degree in physical therapy and work with special needs children in a variety of settings. I believe that ALL children deserve to have a safe community in which to learn and grow. I truly believe Margaret Mead’s quote is true - ‘Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world, indeed it’s the only thing that ever has.’

I have called St. Charles my home for over 16 years and have found numerous ways to give back in the community through my volunteer efforts with my son's Scouts BSA Troop and Cub Scouts before that, the St. Louis Area Food Bank, and as part of the Knightpride Marching Band family. I grew up in a small Georgia town in a family that forged strong connections with the local community and have always understood those relationships helped prepare me for life's ups, downs, and one exciting journey. I credit my dad for my ability to never know a stranger and my mom for my sense of humor which I suspect helps break the ice quite often. The optimism and positive attitude I strive to bring to every interaction is a bit of them both and it's an honor and privilege to use these strengths along with my engineering training to find solutions and paths forward even if we have to get loud along the way. 'Do not get lost in a sea of despair. Be hopeful, be optimistic. Our struggle is not the struggle of a day, a week, a month, or a year, it is the struggle of a lifetime. Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble.' - John Lewis

As a St. Charles County resident since 1994, I pride myself on having a passion for helping others and working to find something greater to bring people together. I am also constantly seeking out ways to grow personally and professionally. That journey has led me to pursue a career in education 14 years ago, specifically with our youngest learners with learning deficits and special needs. I firmly believe that all children have the capability to learn and that they deserve to have a safe community to prosper in each day. I enjoy finding resources to others and meeting new people along the way. I have this quote on my email signature and the more we can educate ourselves and others, the better our community will be. “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” —Nelson Mandela
